New York City has announced it will lift the ban on using TikTok on government devices.
New York City Government Lifts TikTok Ban on Official Devices
New York City is back on TikTok. Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on March 31st that the city will allow the use of the short-video platform on government devices. "TikTok, we're back," he posted on the platform that same day.
According to a memo from the mayor's office, city agencies are now permitted to post content on TikTok. The policy shift is aimed at expanding the city's reach. "We want to open new channels to communicate with the public and help deliver the information New Yorkers need," the memo said.

At the same time, the memo laid out security measures for official accounts. That includes using dedicated devices with no sensitive data and assigning specific staff to manage them.
