The AI API aggregator is scaling fast. OpenRouter has reached 1 quadrillion tokens in annualized throughput, with weekly volume at 20.47 trillion. Investor Deedy Das notes that at roughly $1 per million tokens, that's about $1 billion in annual spending routed through the platform.
Growth has been explosive: weekly usage is up 10x from March 2025 to March 2026. The top models? Hunter Alpha leads with 500B tokens a week, followed by MiniMax, Step 3.5 Flash, and a mix of Claude, DeepSeek, and Gemini variants.
