UAE Ready to Join Military Action to Reopen Strait of Hormuz
Arab officials say the UAE is preparing to help the US and its allies force open the Strait of Hormuz following Iranian attacks. That would make it the first Gulf nation to directly join the fight.
Officials say the UAE is now lobbying the UN Security Council for a resolution authorizing such military action. One Emirati official said diplomats have urged the US and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to blast the waterway open by force.

The official added that Tehran sees itself as fighting for survival and is willing to take down the global economy by locking down the Strait. The UAE is actively assessing what military role it can play in securing the waterway—including mine-clearing and other support services. Some Arab officials also mentioned that the Gulf state has suggested the US should occupy disputed islands in the strategic channel, including Abu Musa, which has been under Iranian control for half a century but is claimed by the UAE.
