X Hires Crypto Veteran Benji Taylor as Design Head
Elon Musk's X platform just brought on a familiar face from the crypto world. Benji Taylor has been hired as head of design—and his background is heavy on digital assets.

Taylor founded Los Feliz Engineering, the company behind self-custody crypto wallet Family. That team got acquired by Aave Labs back in 2023. He then served as Aave's chief product officer until October 2025. More recently, he was design lead for Coinbase's Base blockchain network. Crypto analyst Willy Woo sees a clear signal here: X is likely building crypto into its financial expansion.
The hire comes as X pushes deeper into payments and financial services. Musk said earlier this month that X Money is slated to launch in over 40 US states come April. The service will offer peer-to-peer payments, bank deposits, debit cards, and cashback rewards. At one point, he even floated the idea of paying 6% yield on balances. For now, though, X Money hasn't explicitly mentioned blockchain or crypto.
