UK to Ban Crypto Donations to Political Parties
The UK government is getting tougher on political funding. According to The Guardian, a review of political financing rules will be released today, with a focus on blocking foreign money—including crypto—from meddling in democracy.
This push comes after Nathan Gill, the former Wales leader of the Reform Party, was sentenced to 10 and a half years for accepting crypto bribes. That case clearly raised some alarms.

The centerpiece of the report is expected to be a ban on political parties accepting crypto donations. Why? Because cryptocurrencies are anonymous and hard to track—making them a potential tool for foreign actors to skirt the rules and interfere in UK elections. The Labour government is planning to roll these changes into an upcoming Elections and Democracy Bill to tighten up the whole system.
