China's digital yuan center has officially warned people about three common types of scams.
China's Digital Yuan Authority Warns of Three Common Scams: Fake Promoters, Task Rebates, and Bogus Apps
The official Digital Yuan Operations Management Center just dropped a fraud alert. Three types of scams are making the rounds:
1. Pyramid schemes dressed as "Digital Yuan promotion." The real e-CNY has no "promoter" program, no exams, no referral codes, and no downlines. No 400-yuan installation fee either. If someone's recruiting "civilian promoters" in chat groups or meetings—it's a scam.
2. Fake "task rebates." Scammers promise returns for completing simple tasks—then trick users into transferring money.
3. Bogus apps. Download a fake Digital Yuan app, and you're handing over your info—or your funds—to thieves.
