Moldova Uncovers $107M Crypto Scheme to Influence Elections—Tied to Russian Sanctions Evasion Network
Moldova's anti-corruption agency just dropped a bombshell. A crypto scheme worth $107 million was allegedly used to interfere in the country's 2025 parliamentary elections. The money moved through non-custodial wallets and went toward candidate ads, voter bribes, and organizing protests.

Blockchain forensics firm TRM Labs connected the dots to a Russian-backed influence operation, with transactions running through Kyrgyz exchange TokenSpot. And TokenSpot? It's linked to Garantex, a sanctioned Russian exchange. The whole thing looks like a well-oiled sanctions-evasion machine.
