China Hikes Fuel Prices as Oil Surges: Gasoline Up 0.55 Yuan/Liter, Full Tank Costs 27.5 Yuan More
The U.S.-Iran conflict just hit Chinese drivers' wallets. Effective midnight March 9, domestic gasoline and diesel prices are going up—695 yuan and 670 yuan per ton, respectively. That translates to a 0.55 yuan per liter hike for 92 RON gasoline, 0.58 yuan for 95, and 0.57 yuan for diesel. Fill up a 50-liter tank with 92? That's an extra 27.5 yuan.
The NDRC says the spike is driven by soaring international oil prices amid the escalating Middle East conflict. They're also telling the big three—PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC—to keep supply steady and follow pricing rules. Local authorities are on notice to crack down on violators. And if you spot price gouging? Call 12315.
