CZ: Bitcoin May Need a Fork to Adopt Quantum-Resistant Crypto
Quantum computing could pose a threat to existing crypto security mechanisms, and bitcoin may need a fork to adopt quantum-resistant technology, Changpeng Zhao said in an interview with TBPN on April 10th.
Zhao noted that quantum computing might break current encryption, but new encryption algorithms will emerge as quantum technology evolves. Quantum-resistant algorithms already exist, he said, and quantum computers don't have a clear advantage in breaking them. Crypto just needs to upgrade its underlying protocols and adopt these new mechanisms to handle the potential risk from quantum computing.
