IMF and IOSCO Discuss Tokenization and Retail Access to Illiquid Assets

The IMF and IOSCO held their third Market Finance Conference last night at IMF headquarters in Washington. The session focused on how new financial market technologies and products are reshaping capital market risk distribution—specifically, financial product tokenization and retail investor exposure to illiquid assets—and analyzed the potential implications for financial stability.

Highlights included a fireside chat between SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and IOSCO Chair Jean-Paul Servais, along with discussions involving senior officials from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, France's AMF, the UK's FCA, India's SEBI, and industry leaders from Circle, DTCC, KKR, Robinhood, Moody's, and others.
