Hong Kong Retiree Loses HK$6.6M in Triple Crypto Scam—Police Warn Against 'Recovery' Frauds
A 66-year-old retiree fell victim to a devastating cycle of crypto scams, losing HK$6.6 million over six months. It started with a HK$1.4 million investment in a fake "expert" scheme. Then came the classic recovery scam: another "expert" promised to get the money back for a HK$600,000 deposit. Finally, a third fraud convinced the victim to buy HK$4.6 million in crypto and send it away. All vanished with the cash. Hong Kong police are sounding the alarm: don't trust guaranteed profits—and definitely don't trust anyone promising to recover losses. Once you're a victim, you're a target.
