Nigel Farage Doubles Down on Bitcoin: Reform UK Leader Takes 6.3% Stake in Stack BTC

Nigel Farage is putting real money behind his Bitcoin talk. The Reform UK leader just invested £215,000 ($286,000) in Stack BTC, a London-listed Bitcoin treasury company chaired by former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng. The investment, made through his media firm Thorn In The Side, gives Farage a 6.31% stake.

The funding round also pulled in Blockchain.com as a strategic investor. Stack issued 5.2 million new shares at $0.065 each, raising $346,000 total. Blockchain.com will help shape the institutional side of Stack's planned Bitcoin treasury.

"I've long been one of the few political advocates for Bitcoin in the UK," Farage said. "London and the UK have always been at the center of global finance—we can and should be a hub for crypto." He also backed Stack's plan to acquire and grow UK businesses, calling it "permanent, supportive, long-term capital."

Stack, which listed on London's Aquis Exchange in February after raising $2.9 million, currently holds 21 Bitcoin—bought in one go on March 5—worth about $1.4 million. Kwarteng and his wife hold just under 5.9%.

Farage has been leaning hard into crypto advocacy. At last year's Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, he said Reform UK would accept crypto donations and push for a "Crypto Assets and Digital Finance Bill" if they win the next election (expected by mid-2029).

The timing is interesting. Crypto in UK politics is getting more attention—and not all of it positive. Last December, reports surfaced that authorities were considering banning crypto donations. In February 2024, Security Committee Chair Matt Western called for a temporary pause until the Electoral Commission issues formal guidance.

Meanwhile, Reform UK has been quietly building a crypto-friendly donor base. Thai-based crypto investor Christopher Harborne gave $4 million late last year, on top of $12 million earlier in 2025—making him one of the party's top backers.
